Baby Hearts Press Code of Ethics

At Baby Hearts Press, we are committed to uplifting, encouraging, and educating the Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) community through high-quality publications. Our mission is to provide accurate, compassionate, and inspiring resources for individuals and families affected by CHDs. To fulfill this mission, we adhere to the following ethical principles:

1. Commitment to Accuracy: We strive to publish and promote only factual, well-researched information about CHDs. Our content is reviewed for medical accuracy and aligned with current scientific understanding.

2. Empowerment Through Education: We believe in the power of knowledge to empower our community. Our publications aim to educate readers about CHDs in a clear, accessible manner.

3. Fostering Hope and Resilience: We focus on stories and information that inspire hope, celebrate achievements, and promote resilience within the CHD community.

4. Respect for Diversity: We embrace and represent the diverse experiences within the CHD community, ensuring our publications reflect a wide range of perspectives.

5. Emotional Sensitivity: We are mindful of the emotional impact our content may have. We strive to present information in a sensitive manner, avoiding unnecessary distress or triggering content.

6. Integrity in Partnerships: We collaborate only with authors, illustrators, and partners who share our commitment to ethical, accurate, and supportive content for the CHD community.

7. Transparency and Fair Competition: We are committed to transparency in all our processes, including our award nominations and selections. Our People's Choice Award is determined by qualified votes from our community. In the event of a tie:

    • A panel of three judges will evaluate reader feedback to determine the winner.

    • If the panel cannot choose a single winner, both books will be awarded first place and share the prize money equally.

8. Continuous Improvement: We actively seek feedback from our community and medical professionals to continually improve the quality and relevance of our publications.

9. Promoting Positive Action: Our content aims to inspire positive actions, whether in personal health management, community support, or advocacy for CHD awareness.

10. Safeguarding Trust: We protect the trust placed in us by our readers, ensuring that all our activities, including contests and awards, uphold the highest standards of fairness and integrity.

By adhering to these principles, Baby Hearts Press commits to being a trusted, positive force in the CHD community, providing resources that inform, inspire, and support.
